Our plan

Build support. Turn it into action.

Reopening trails now matters. Building better systems for future closures matters too.

Plans to keep the parks open

1

Gather support

Goal achieved

Our first goal was to gather 100+ supporters in our first month. We reached it within one week, giving the campaign a strong base to build from. We will keep welcoming new supporters as the campaign grows.

2

Coordinate public action

Current phase

We are now moving into coordinated public action, giving supporters practical ways to act together through focused phone and email campaigns, meetings with decision-makers, and public comments. Every action will remain factual, respectful, and tied to a specific outcome.

3

Bring public attention

Engage journalists and news organizations with verified records, agency responses, and firsthand community experiences. Responsible news and media coverage can help prolonged closures receive informed public scrutiny.

4

Pursue lasting reform

Pass new legislation to keep parks open. Work with representatives and lawmakers on objective closure criteria, documented reopening protocols, regular public status reports, and adequate recovery resources.

How we will work

Lead with evidence

Ground public claims in official notices, records, firsthand observations, and clearly identified gaps in available information.

Recognize progress

Support closures when conditions are unsafe and acknowledge meaningful work toward reopening, partial access, or better communication.

Report back

Tell supporters what we asked, what response we received, what changed, and what the next action will be.

100+ supporters in one week.

That early success moves Trails Forward into phase two: coordinating public action while continuing to grow the supporter base.
